The first impulses to devotion Sacred Heart of Jesus come from the Benedictine Order; devotion had its most suggestive expression in the group Helfta with the current Mysteries German of the late Middle. They are significant in this regard Santa Matilde di Magdeburg (1207-1282), Santa Matilde by Hackenborn (1241-1299) and the beato Enrico Suso (1295-1366). Saint Gertrude of Helfta, then, (1256 ca.-1302) wrote the famous book The herald of divine love; is considered the initiator of the devotion to the Sacred Heart.
