Saint Joseph, (Hebrew: יוֹסֵף?, Yosef; in ancient Greek Ιωσηφ, Ioseph; in Latin Ioseph) according to the New Testament, he is the husband of Mary and the putative father of Jesus; he is defined as a righteous man.
He is venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church. He was declared patron of the Catholic Church by Blessed Pius IX on December 8, 1870.
